Scott Farrell has covered SMU athletics for nearly 20 years since graduating on The Hilltop in 1989. He was the publisher for the Rivals.com site MustangManiacs.com for the past two seasons, and also covered the Mustangs for the local Park Cities People newspaper in Dallas. He won several writing awards as sports editor at People Newspapers, but most notably earned the Best Sports Coverage Award as voted by his peers in the Texas Press Association in 2005 and 2006.

Farrell covered high schools as a sports reporter for The Dallas Morning News from 1999-2004, and continues to freelance for the region’s largest daily newspaper. He has also worked in the sports information offices at Fresno State University, The University of Texas at Arlington, and at SMU.
