Question for Webbies...

Postby MrMustang1965 » Mon Aug 18, 2008 2:28 pm

Did pf.com experience a slight 'crash' or 'delay' earlier today shortly after JJ's news release was posted about the QB? Just wondering. I was either getting half a screen of info or none at all when accessing pf.com.

Sorry about that guys.

Usually the limiting factor on hitting a website is bandwidth. In this case, with nearly 300 people online hitting refresh, refresh, refresh, refresh to see what JJ announced, we might have actually stressed out the server. 8)

I gotta say, controversy is great for business. I haven't done a lick of work today trying to keep up with all these threads. Let's just say... It's an interesting day to be a Mustang.

Thanks, Webmaster. I kinda figured that was the case but wanted 'official' confirmation from either you or Pony Pride.

By the way, did pf.com set a record today for most users on the site? If not, when was that record set? Thanks.

Honestly, I'm not exactly sure.

We lost our historical data when we changed the format of bulletin boards and moved to our new host. Right now it shows our biggest day as 313 last January. But I think the biggest day of all time was in the upper 400s, which happened in February (Signing Day) two years ago.

For whatever reason, it doesn't look like the counter on the Message Board index has been working correctly. When we were having trouble, the counter was saying 120-something, but when I went into the Administration Panel to see what was up, there were over 300 IP addresses listed. Maybe it's counting PonyFans members logged on but not guests (those who are browsing the site but not logged on).

Anyway, the More The Merrier as far as we're concerned!! We really appreciate all of you guys who help us spread the word about PonyFans. It really feels good to read all the lively debate and see the traffic counter go ballistic.

Of course if I'm right, the counter wasn't working back in January either (we'd moved the board at that time), so the 313 list could've been much higher too.

There are usually a LOT more guests browsing than there are members logged in, as most people don't log in unless they want to post something.
