Does Justin hang around and try to work his way up the chart or does he transfer out? I hope he stays and works his way back up to No. 1

Personal opinion - I don't think he sticks around. Although, I don't fully know the eligibility issues at this point. After all, I can't ever remember a RS Freshman and Sophomore starting QB being benched just before the start of his junior year.

I believe the rule is that a player has 5 years to play 4. Since he redshirted his freshman year, and has played two, he has two more years of eligibility but only two more years in his "five year window" as well. Since transfering to another DIA school would require a redshirt year, he would either have only 1 more year of eligibility or would have to transfer to a DIAA school in order to play two more seasons. Not a compliance expert, but I believe that is the rule.

In my mind, I was throwing into the mix the whole issue about whether he could even transfer to play THIS SEASON, or whether he would have to wait until the 2009 season to play for a new team. I suppose theoretically he could go play for a team this season, but I don't know...seems like a stretch 2 wks before the start.

Good point. I agree that joining a team a couple of weeks after practice has started would definately be an issue unless he wanted to transfer to a DIA school. Since he would have to redshirt this season anyway, he might could do that. Although then he would only have one more season. Tough decision for him

If I was the great designer, I'd have him transferring to Texas State and starting against SMU. He deserves a chance to show Jones what he can do on gameday.

I wouldn't mind seeing him go down to Div. 2. JW loves to play football, and though he's probably too short for the NFL, he'd be a fun arena league QB to watch.

I know his cousin goes to Sam Houston and they used to "twiddle the fiddle" a lot back in high school together, so that could be an option for him.
