And yes, I've contributed my share to the madness. But for God's sake people, we just hired a guy who was coaching in the freakin' Sugar Bowl in January.
Is there a chance some of us can let the Jones era play out before we judge the damn thing?
This is ridiculous. It's like we are so close to this program, we don't appreciate what we have.
Meanwhile, I personally hold the keeper of the star responsible for about 75 percent of this mayheim.
He kept saying that when Jones' name surfaced for this job, that it was a waste of time and that SMU should really get on with the coaching search.
How'd that work out?
Now, that Jones is here, the keeper has decided that Jones doesn't know what he's doing with the quarterback situation.
So what is he saying here?
Is he saying that Jones should have never taken the job so Justin Willis' job would have been safe with a different coach?
Is he saying that Jones let Willis' body of work on and off the field influence his decision to not go with him as the starter?
Is he saying that he knows more about Jones' Run N Shoot offense and what kind of quarterback fits the system better than Jones does?
Has he already decided that the Jones era is a failure?
To me, it just seems that he goes out of his way to find something to complain/sob/whine about because it always seems to differ from his EVER-CHANGING STANDARDS.
We started to see that when he didn't feel like the recruiting didn't measure up to his standards. But don't worry about the fact that our kids are rating higher this year than last year -- and we matched the number of three-star recruits this year as last year. Oh, and Jones helped bring in
all 4 3-star kids last year when the previous staff did not
I'd love to see the Jones and Keeper egos in the same room. Nobody would fit.
Enjoy the season, I guess.

P.S.
I really like how he and others are dogpiling the Timmy Chang era at Hawaii. For all of his interceptions oh and 117 touchdowns (But don't worry about that), Chang SHOCKINGLY led Hawaii to bowl victories over Houston and UAB in 2003 and 2004. Did SMU go bowling in either one of those years?
