DMN: SMU's Jones Not Rushing Mitchell
Posted: Fri Aug 22, 2008 12:21 amThe offense has been sharper since Bo Levi Mitchell was named the starter, and the freshman quarterback is asserting himself as the field general. But Mustangs coach June Jones doesn't want Mitchell to do too much too fast.
"I think everybody else wants him to be an NFL all-pro already, but it's going to be a few years before he gets to do that," Jones said. "It's a growing process. He has to learn to lead and be who he is as a leader, be the guy. Like I told him, 'Don't even worry about that stuff right now, just let it happen.' As the success comes, they'll actually follow him."
