DMN: SMU's Jones Not Rushing Mitchell

The offense has been sharper since Bo Levi Mitchell was named the starter, and the freshman quarterback is asserting himself as the field general. But Mustangs coach June Jones doesn't want Mitchell to do too much too fast.

"I think everybody else wants him to be an NFL all-pro already, but it's going to be a few years before he gets to do that," Jones said. "It's a growing process. He has to learn to lead and be who he is as a leader, be the guy. Like I told him, 'Don't even worry about that stuff right now, just let it happen.' As the success comes, they'll actually follow him."

Nice little bit. I, unlike others on this board, completely support JJ's decision to do this. In fact, I think it is a good move. Willis' days were numbered as soon as Sewell and the other big boosters decided to "pony" (pun intended) up and hire an established coach with a very specifically run offense...
