Rumors regarding SMU apparel

Was at the Bookstore today picking up some more SMU gear. I spoke with one of the people who work there and she said that adidas and JJ have struck a deal where he will wear a hawaiian shirt on the sideline for two games (a red & blue hawaiian shirt). She said the Bookstore will get those in stock at some point in time (probably after JJ debuts the look).

The other thing she told me is that SMU is planning to promote a "White Out" for the Texas State game. I definitely raised an eyebrow at that one, since we always wear our colors at home. I do not know how reliable this information is, but I wanted to pass it along. Remember - its worth what you paid for it.

Great.

Texas State's colors are maroon and old gold. (see wikipedia) What's the problem with SMU fans wearing red & blue? White?

I guess SMU will always be stuck with JJ's attachment to Hawai'i so bring on the leis.

The only way the "white out" for the TX State game makes sense is if the team wears white jerseys for that game. However, I bet we would have to get some kind of clearance from the NCAA to do that because its the visiting team that is supposed to wear white.

I think LSU wears white at home - did the NCAA have to give them permission to do that?

SMU is not Hawaii. We do not need to adopt its customs and traditions.

Pretty sure we had some black outs on the boulevard before all the games, too!

Agree. Wear something that shows you are now a part of the SMU/Dallas community -- especially during a nationally televised game.

If true, I hope the Adidas money goes to offset the Circle of Champion's commitment -- I'm going to guess that when they turn on their large-screen HD sets, they are not going to be excited to see a Hawaiian shirt.

Is Brett Favre going to be seen wearing a cheesehead?

NCAA rules say home team picks the uniforms.

Our coach is best known for being from there; if it adds color to SMU, then I am all for it. Better than the [deleted] that wears a pink shirt and a sweater on his shoulders.

SMU is not hawaii he needs to adapt to where he is. I understood him wearing the hawaiian shirts in hawaii and i know its hot in texas but seriously he should just dress like a normal coach and adapt to the culture here in texas.
