I'm thinking that the line is scary right most of the time.

That small a spread means the game is pretty much even and Rice is getting the points because they are the home team. I wouldn't worry about it too much. I think the unknown nature of how SMU will perform with the new staff and system also leads to Rice being favored, but usually the home team gets a couple of points just because they are the home team.

No. In fact, the line opened at 6 way before the season started. Then all the big money started flowing to SMU and the line came down as a result. :wink:

The line I saw today had it at 3 then went to 3 1/2. This is probably where it will stay. I don't bet on sports. Good luck to those who do. I wouldn't touch this game. Too many unknowns but I do think our D could make a big difference. We have to win the Turnover game.

The line was at 3 when Mitchell was named-one soucrce has the line going to 4 today-see betting lines in link below. See the betting trend which appears to be heavily in favor Rice especuially since Mitchell was named.

I'd be interested in seeing data on how well the line actually does predict. Anybody know of any studies?

Rice has to be concerned about what JJ will do and how BLM will perform at home before a lot of Katy fans. The element of the unknown has to be worrying the Owls. And to have JWil in the wings in case we need him excedes anyone behind Clements.

not the overall line but they will set a line for the 2nd half and for each quarter as the game progresses.
