They are still a work in progress. Hopefully, they will get better by the Tech game.

They are an AMC Pacer racing against a McLaren F1 in that game. We're in trouble no matter what happens.

They made mistakes and were physically beat to be sure. But does anyone remember Bennett's first game where our defense was just not prepared? At least we were prepared.

I had not seen a practice first hand but we are midgets out there on defense. Any team can run up the middle at will b/c of our lack of size and LB play. Teams are going to rack up a ton of yardage like the last few years, nothing different.

Just heard Rice had well over 400 yards on offense and Rice backed off in the 4th quarter.

would help if the offense didn't turn it over.....at least our QB doesn't laugh now after fumbling the ball away

IMHO we definitely need to start recruiting heavily on defense.

Duja Vu all over again

I was hoping that we would have a better defense this year, but here we go again. 56-27 hurts and we still haven't won against Rice in Houston since 1986. I wanna die.

Thread title might be the greatest understatement in the history of the internet.

This must be that new blitzing, attacking gambling, turnover-causing, we-dictate-the-tempo, we-make-the-offense-adjust-to-US defense that the defensive coaching staff were talking about. I suspect there is a certain DC in Pittsburgh having a good chuckle right now on that one.

SMU defense AKA "blitzkrieg"

what happened to crosby and the transfer CB? Castro can't cut it, we are thin at corner after the two starters on the outside.

Dennis looked rusty in his first game in a couple of years. It may take him a couple of games.

I thought the lack of hitting in practice probably cost us a little bit. Our tackling wasn't the best.

DTs struggled to make an impact. That made evident our lack of speed at linebacker. Fleps didn't do well in open field.

DL and lack of speed at LB are going to hurt us this season.

Might need to hide the women and children for the Tech game.
