So far, the Rice AD who was blasted on this board for "badmouthing" about not recruiting BLM is looking like a genius considering the spanking his team gave us, and his coach get's paid $1.6 million less that JJ.

I still think June's ego is his worst enemy, there is no way the game wouldn't have been closer, or even a win, if JW was playing QB. He proved he can take the pressure, can connect on long throws, and wouldn't have had the deer in the headlights look that BLM had. Those long ducks BLM was throwing up, who supposedly has the better arm, were a complete friggin' joke.

And ironically, our best defensive player was Yenga, who didn't even start. Way to judge the talent there.

man you are right on target. Your level-headed reaction to the situation is sublime. We have sucked for 20 years and the fact that JJ couldn't turn this around in 1 game is a crime against humanity.

To me the difference in the game was not how much the coaches are paid, it was experience vs lack thereof and experience won.

BLM had only one real issue, IMHO...he ran out of gas. His arm isn't used to the quantity of vertical throws. It needs more stamina.

so inexperience wasnt an issue for BLM. he started out hot but sooner or later in the back of my mind, i knew he was going to burn out like you said. but he burned out way to early.

I think that play calling buttress your QB when inexperienced. I also think BLM's arm gave out early because half his first 13 passes were vertical and long balls. Stamina was an issue going in, but he might have lasted another quarter if they'd marched up the field more slowly instead of going for the long ball. But hey, that's JJ's run/shoot. BLM or whoever is back there better get used to it, or it's going to be a long season.

The Commentators pegged it. Jones was protecting him with bombs, shuttle screens and short passes-once that was taken away and Mitchell had to actually read a defense he played EXACTLY like a freshman. I think this "his arm got tired" excuse is total BS. I think his arm got exposed as inconsistent. I've been watching College Football for 45 years and never heard the "arm got tired" excuse. This ain't baseball. Maybe we ought to put a pitch count limit on the Child.

you are right stallion, its a [deleted] poor excuse blaming it on his arm being fatigued, the kid threw a lot in High School so that shouldnt be the problem. but fatigue did play a factor. I dont know how others felt but I thought the kid would falter at some point in the game after starting out pretty well.
