2009 recruiting class

With whatever number of commits we currently have, and the probablity of attrition which should afford us to sign 25-26, can we go ahead and close the door on any more freshmen and sign 5-6 Juco players from the defensive side of the ball?

Just get the best athletes availiable including from the JUCO pool. I'm very concerned we flushed way too many scholarships down the drain last year to kids that aren't D1A quality-I think its going to come back and bite us in the Butt for several years.

What's the word on the class? Numbers are one thing but what's the quality like? Any 3 or 4 star recruits?

Its competitive with CUSA West-which I don't hold in very high esteem. Definitely some Offensive Lineman we can use. Disappointing about the lask of offensive playmakers at this point other than the Derrius Johnson kid who looks promising. If we got about 6 kids like him rather than the ones we signed in 2008 I'd be a lot more optimistic. You'd think Jones could get some big-time QBs and Receivers. I'm surprised that hasn't materialized

If we don't show some real improvement I can see our good recruits pulling their commitments.

We all know it's no picnic getting top kids to come here. We need talent everywhere-PB left JJ with little[size too] and this is still a rebuilding process for some time to come.

East Carolina just beat #17 Virginia Tech. Obviously the conference is very weak!

Yes it is very weak. This won't be a disputable pont by the end of non-conference. Maybe not by the end of tonite.

yep, and what was it three years ago when ECU was projected as our only 'w'. And of course we promptly lost to them in front of a few hundred at home.

Defense wins championships and i think JJ realized last night that he'll need to focus on defense with a lot of his recruiting
