I'm going to have to pull for Clemson to make the Championship game this year. Daughter's senior year; son graduated '05; Clemson has taken all my wife's and my hard earned money for years. I figure Clemson owes us. Go Tigers. Whup 'Bama and save my weekend!

Carolina is my SEC school; actually pulled for them before the kids chose Clemson. Still do pull for "the" USC in these parts.

Clemson might want to get started....they're looking more Pee Wee than Big Boy at the moment.

No national championship, that's for sure. They might still have a chance to win what appears to be a pretty weak ACC so they could still end up in a BCS game. Bama did look good.

I will say this...it's a lot easier for me to "get over" this Clemson loss than our being whipped by Rice on national TV.

the only good thing about losing with such a high ranking is that you do it early on. Clemson looked lost out there, but it's one game. One. Remember that. They have an easy enough schedule to beat up on some opponents and build their confidence and with studs like that on offense, there is no reason they shouldn't run the tables and play for an ACC title.

They'll probably fall to a 15-20 ranking, but if they keep winning they'll slowly climb back.

that loss is devastating for them, along with the loss to VaTech. It was not a good week for ranked ACC teams. I dont expect Clemson to win the ACC title, and I wouldnt expect Bowden to be there next year if they dont rebound and win the ACC title. They'll be lucky enough to stay in the top 20. Just goes to show you that games are played on the field and not on paper.

Sabans group of Freshmen did great last night. Clemsons worst mistake was to let a freshman running back start the game when you have two studs in Davis and Spiller. that is THE reason they lost the game

I expect Clemson will remain in the top 20; might even rebound to win the ACC. They have been close 3 consecutive years now. I think it takes a collpase and something like 8-5 (including a loss to rival S.Carolina) for Bowden to lose his job. The natives have been restless for years, but the A.D appreciates the high cost of replacement coaches these days.

And no - giving the new FR RB recruit the game's 1st carry is something Bowden has been doing for years. That's a recruiting promise he makes kids - and the whole team understands. That mistake cost them 3 pts. Bama just stomped Clemson in every phase of the game. Can't lay this one on the new kid or Bowden's tradition.

P.S. bet that kid works real hard and learns from that lesson. fumbling your 1st carry on (almost) national TV will be a powerful motivator.

Yes i know it was a promise to the kid, thats what they announcers said once Clemson started their drive but that cost them the game. Bama literally came out rolling on Offense and their D got all the confidence in the world on their first plays on D.

Bowdens been on the hot seat for the past few years. He's always had the talent, just has never been able to get over the hump to the title game.

Another loss to a top quality opponent, or even a lesser one will cause a QB controversy. Ive been a fan of Harper but Korn is the future of that program IMO

I'm pretty good at picking losers, that's for sure. Can't pull for Ohio State, though. In-laws are MIchigan people. My brother is a Prof at USC though. I do have a collection of USC sweats & tees. I guess they would be my "west coast" team
