I saw this on smumustangs.com today:
In an effort to create a more entertaining, fan-friendly experience, SMU will launch several new game presentation initiatives in 2008. To encourage fans to arrive at least 10 minutes prior to kickoff, SMU has created a new pre-game ceremony that features the Mustang Band, Mustang spirit groups, and musician Robert Lee Kobb. As SMU takes the field, Kobb and the Mustang Band will play the new original song "Pony Up!," a new battle cry of sorts for the Mustang faithful.
Kobb and his band will perform the song Thursday morning on WFAA's "Good Morning Texas" around 9 a.m.

I think you kill the background vocals. No offense to the ladies, but it gives the song a wimpy 50s feel to it.

The song in and of itself is pretty wimpy. Who's going to go to the game early to hear this?
Don't get me wrong it's a good song as an intro to a radio/TV show but it doesn't exactly get the blood flowing with regard to a football game.
Hawaii has Poly war anthems playing and we get a guy and a bunch of chicks singing about ponying up. Damn. Can we please get something to go our way?
Soon!

This would even be great atmosphere music on The Boulevard but not as the team takes the field.
I hate the Richards Group for ever introducing that cheesy a@# slogan.

If everyone comes 10 minutes prior to kickoff does this mean the students that do come will actually leave during the 2nd quarter now?
I assume in the future we will have to name the Homecoming king and queen between the 1st and 2nd quarters.

I'm telling you, make game attendance impact rush numbers and the students (at least the large percentage of Greeks) will come. The Homecoming king and queen should be disqualified if their organizations don't attend the whole game.

don't make a fool out of yourself by criticizing music from other eras unless you were actually there to experience it especially when the roots of all the rock music you hear today came from the 50's and 60's. In any event, female background vocals, I recall, were mainly a product of the wonderful 60's. Too much tequila tonight.

this sounds pretty silly....too old fashion. I've never heard of this guy.
I'm going to have to say Pony Down on this.
I'd rather hear Knucklestang.
