carnival barker or game announcer?

For the hell of it, I am curious to see the thoughts on our new carnival barker of an announcer. I will preface this by saying that I was with a bunch of the so called blue hairs in the crowd. But I was one of many turning to look up whenever this goofball started on one of his rambles.
I mean honestly... Have we become the grand prairie airhogs semi pro baseball team? Will we now start offering a free burial for one lucky ticket holder? Or perhaps we should have Madonna and arod night like them as well. I have been to hundreds and hundreds of sporting events across this fine country, across multiple venues and sports. And I was embarassed tonight.
I'm sorry...just like the noid and mighty mustang thunder, someone has got their head up somewhere unfit for children.

just another example of how our higher ups seems to have never attended another big time or BCS football game. Seems very high school to me.

I have been a P.A. announcer at the youth sports, high school and college level for the past ten years. So, I tend to listen to and critique P.A. guys more closely than most. My biggest pet peeve is these "over the top" guys who try to be home-team cheerleaders! Don't get me wrong, I think fans need to get behind their team, but I don't think that falls into the job description of a good public-address announcer. Cheerleaders lead cheers, bands play fight songs, and announcers relay information and play results (in football) in a clear, concise manner that is pleasing to listen to. Just my humble opinion. (see for example: NY Yankees legendary P.A. man Bob Sheppard, "The Voice of Yankee Stadium")

Seemed like a rodeo announcer to me. Really worked hard to not say Third Down Thunder.

yes, has to be the same guy they brought in mid way through the basketball season. I dont know what they did to Bell, or if he bailed on his own, but this is the way Orsini wants to represent SMU?

Ya know what? He did the trick. It was cheesey, but it got a lot of people to yell. I'm all for it if it reminds people to be loud

sounded more like an announcer presenting the next stripper at the Fare-(is that place still open). "YOU GUYS HAVING FUN ON A SATURDAY NITE". Could have been from Roller Derby or the Sportatorium.

Line of the night: "And that's another Pony Mustang first down!"
Nothing like having the PA guy do play by play. Couldn't figure how penalties worked, rarely knew the correct down.
And when did it become "the Hill" and not "the Hilltop"?
No offense to anybody, but what in the hell was that "new tradition" crap at the beginning of the game? The Jerry Jeff Walker wannabe assaulted me with his explosive verbal diarrhea. I was embarrased for the school and athletic program alike. Granted, it might not have been him, but the handling of the sound quality. Either way, I wanted to return my season tickets. I really hope they don't do that for the TCU game.
