Maybe I missed it, but where was Banjo tonight? Didn't even see him on the sidelines.

He played in the fourth quarter.

Most of our best athletes / Div 1 bodies on defense (Herron, Thompson, Banjo, Bailey) spent the game on the sideline. That is all I have to turn to in this dark hour.

Can someone knowledgeable shed some light on the root of the problem -- are we just too slow, undersized / manhandled by blockers, not football smart, poor technique? Bad scheme?

To me this is just the beginning of a rebuild and so I am not particularly concerned - I am just amazed at how inept the defense is. As we all are.

Everything was a problem. We couldn't stop a freakin' FCS team's option play. That's just sad.

We stopped it early, and really well a couple of times. I remarked to my husband that it was one of the first times I recalled seeing a recent SMU team do anything to defend the option. I think the lack of depth is what killed us there eventually.

Lack of Depth....to a team with what 60% as many scholarships, that is just an excuse

Banjo should be starting since we have played him and he will not redshirt. I think he is the best available safety option - I'd play Banjo and Rock. We are going to have to get bigger and faster everywhere - but it really jumps out at safety.

In the second quarter, with State in the redzone moving toward our scoreboard, there were two successive plays we had only ten men in on defense. I beleive it was on their first and second downs. On third down two players came in one left, it looked like we had been missing an interior lineman. I counted twice and am almost positive that that was the case. Did anyone else see it?

I beg to differ, they converted 12 of 15 third down attempts. Tech is going to be ugly on a monumental level.

On the interception by Tyler Jones-there wasn't an SMU player within 10 yards of that Texas State receiver including Jones and somehow the QB sails the ball to Jones. One of the bigger plays of the game.
