Now, I understand, I really do, as to why you want to play your younger players 'for the future benefit of the team'...but, in game 3 you are already mailing it in?? Don't you at least try and establish some cohesion first, and if toward the end of the season you are still failing, then you give your younger guys playing time (as in Game 7-8)?

I would seriously doubt that any of your seniors will continue to "give it their all" if you are announcing NOW that you aren't going to play them...

FROM DMNews...

Morriss said the percentage of playing time may begin tipping toward younger players. Among the possibilities he mentioned was at quarterback, where freshmen Terrance Parks and Shawn Bell back up junior Aaron Karas.

"If we're going to get beat 52-14, why not go ahead and get those younger guys some more snaps and more seasoning?" he asked. "Because that's our future."

Thats a motivational technique. You're right it might backfire, but 9 times out of 10 it will work short term. You cant motivate a team like that for long, but for one game it works. Baylor is gonna come out madder than heck, SMU should have a major chip on its shoulder too. May the better team win.
