SMU Mustangs rack up rare receiving double

UNIVERSITY PARK – Sophomore Aldrick Robinson (172 yards) and junior Emmanuel Sanders (138) became the first pair of 100-yard receivers in the same game since Cody Cardwell (146) and Chris Cunningham (141) did so against Tulsa in 1999. Sanders and Robinson could be the Mustangs' answer to all-American receiver Michael Crabtree as SMU visits Texas Tech.

"They have as much talent as anybody I've had anywhere," coach June Jones said.

Not sure they will be the answer, but do want to see an entertaining game with them getting lots of grabs.

Anyone have Crabtree's address to send him some poorly cooked meat?

Jones has made a pattern of heaping praise on his players. Anyboy and anywhere would include Houston and Atlanta. Gotta be a lot of smoke in those comments, probably said to help build the confidence of ES and AR.

Don't expect JJ to say "They aren't anything like what I had at HI" or "They really aren't great"... His job is keep morale up

I generally agree but he's coached some pretty impressive WRs (Herman Moore, Brett Perriman, Mel Gray, Terence Mathis, Bert Emmanuel, Andre Rison, Anthony Carter, Ernest Givens, Haywood Jeffries, Drew Hill).

4 of my former teammates and I had dinner with JJ this summer. I was shocked when he told us he believed A. Robinson was perhaps the best WR he had coached in college or pro. I assure you there was no smoke in that comment, he was quite serious.
I also walked away from that dinner believing BLM was a front runner at QB and probably his job to lose. JJ never directly said that, it was just my gut feeling after hearing him talk about BLM.
Very interesting dinner to say the least.

I took it to mean he thinks Sanders and Robinson could eventually be the best COLLEGE receivers he's ever had.

Or maybe he actually believes they have a chance to be really good.

When was the last time we had a pair of receivers with over 300 yards in a game? :D

Or two receivers in the top 10 in the nation at the same time?
