Due to Hurricane Ike. It should be an interesting crowd with possibly more AFA fans than UH fans.

Best of luck Air Force. Win one for our country; unless it's Navy vs SMU!

do you all have any ideas where fans from AFA could tailgate? is there an allowable area on campus for a non-SMU game?

Go SMU!
Go Air Force!

I don't know what parking areas will be available. They usually move student parking away from the stadium to make room for football parking on game days. I don't know if they will do that for this game. I doubt the Boulevard will be available for tailgating though it might be available for parking ( http://smumustangs.cstv.com/trads/boulevard.html ). However, I would think you could tailgate in the open surface parking lots on campus like at other schools, but you will be limited to gas fired grills. Charcoal grills are only allowed on the Boulevard.

Call or e-mail the Athletic department to see what they have planned for accommodating the fans for this game.

From the UH website:

Football Moves Air Force Game to Ford Stadium in Dallas
Cougars to Face Falcons at 2:30 p.m., Saturday on SMU Campus

Sept. 10, 2008

HOUSTON - With Hurricane Ike threatening the Texas Gulf Coast, director of athletics Dave Maggard, after conferring with University of Houston Chancellor/President Dr. Renu Khator and other campus administrators, decided Wednesday to move this weekend's scheduled home game against Air Force to Dallas.

The Cougars will face Air Force at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, at Gerald J. Ford Stadium on the SMU campus.

"After conferring with other University officials, we decided that, in the best interest and safety of our student-athletes and given the logistical issues for both Houston and Air Force, we are making the decision now so we can move ahead with the game Saturday," Maggard said. "It is the desire of both schools to play the game, and having the game at SMU assures us that our fans can see the game on CBS College Sports."

"At this time, we anticipate our team and travel party leaving for Dallas early Thursday," Maggard said. "We appreciate (SMU director of athletics) Steve Orsini and SMU in allowing us to use their facility, and we are grateful to officials with Conference USA for their help in switching sites."

Detailed information on tickets will be available Thursday afternoon.

Isn't there an AF base in Wichita Falls?

Lots of UH fans don't want to fight the traffic to go out of town just to fight it coming back into town on Sunday against the weather.

The game is probably a toss-up now that it's in a neutral site. UH was favored by about a touchdown at Robertson.

Does AFA draw pretty well? Army and Navy I figured would but Air Force? It's sort of funny that Air Force employs a vaunted ground game while Houston is the one that goes through the air.

QB Case Keenum is the NCAA all purpose yards leader, even ahead of Graham Harrell.
