I just pray that Ike doesn't pick up considerable strength from the Cat 2 it is now. It made it over the warm Gulf waters without picking up as much as they had expected, but there are still about 2 day to landfall on the Gulf Coast.
Galveston Island (west part of island) was issued a mandatory evacuation order to be off the island by 7am this morning. My parents made it over the causeway about 8pm last night, heading for Houston to weather the storm.
I hope all of you in Houston make it through unscathed. My prayer are with you all.

I'm not happy. Looks like we are going to be Ike's b-tch after it gets through with Freeport/Houston (East Texas). Traffic is ridiculous up 59. Ugh. And I have to go up to Hooks near Texarkana tomorrow night to cover Elysian Fields vs. Hooks. We are actually going to have to plot a backroad way back b/c 59 might go contraflow. Can't friggin' believe this.

OC: Be careful! Who's favored in that game? Elysian Fields was always a power when I lived in East Texas.

We have a flight out for Lubbock at 10:00 in the morning. Just hoping the weather isn't to bad to get out and then flying back Sunday. This stinks.

Tell Billy Sims we said hello.
Mathman: I'm similarly concerned...I'm not supposed to leave until 12:25!

Nothing to do but wait and see how it works out.
