What kind of payout does SMU get for going and playing a school like Texas Tech? Going and playing a team like LSU, Texas, USC, Florida, gets a school a $700+ payout.

The payout comes from the home games that TT returns.
Eastern Washington is a pure rent a win. They may get $350K to $400K. Didn't Tulsa back out on TT because they got a better deal by playing someone else for the buyout?

Teams can get BIG money for the away game. Fl. Atlantic just received 700k for appearing in Austin..
It tastes better when served from a Bowl (game)!

UNT is getting $700K for playing LSU and LSU is certainly not going to be playing a game at Fouts Field anytime soon. In looking at the future non-conference schedules, outside of possibly A$M, it doesn't look like we are playing many "money" games..............

Sure, you CAN get BIG money, but that doesnt mean you WILL.
Normally, a team gets a big payday only when there is no return game. Texas pays Florida Atlantic to come and play in Austin, because they have no intention of giving FAU a return game next year (or ever) in Boca Raton. Texas Tech doesnt pay us anything to come to Lubbock, and we dont pay them anything to come to Dallas, each home team keeps their own gate reciepts. That's how a home and home series works.
Try not to choke on the Kool-Aid.

We dont play any "money" games. Unless you count Texas State, Sam Houston and SFA, who we pay to come here.

that's why Orsini has focused on scheduling teams that can put butts in the seats. And why playing the Northwesterns, Vandys and Wake Forests of the world do not make financial sense especially with the disaster that is CUSA Attendance.

Well playing Texas State didn't exactly fill up Ford last weekend. Was the NTSU game last year a sell-out? Even playing TCU has yet to help us totally fill up the stadium Besides the opening game at Ford against Kansas and our rent-a-fan games against Texas Tech, which other opponents have helped SMU put 32K into the stands?

NT play a lot of these money games and get killed then lose out when recruiting because kids do not like to play for a losing team.
