passing/receiving records

goes without saying that most of SMU's passing/receiving records are likely to be broken in the June Jones era...he pretty much promised that coming in.

Probably appropriate to talk about some that are "close" to being broken...on the eve of the TTech game.

Sanders now has 22 career TDs...record is 25 by Emanuel Tolbert. Won't be long before that record falls.

Tolbert also has the record for TDs in a single season with 11. Since Sanders and Robinson already have 4 each this season, I expect one (or both) of those guys will own that record before this season ends.

I expect Jerry Levias' records for most receiving yards/season (1131) and single game (213) could fall this year.

At the rate he's going, Sanders might pass Tolbert for career yardage this year

Mick Rossley's record of 83 receptions in a single season is likely to be surpassed by either Sanders or Robinson this year, assuming they stay healthy.

Sanders still on pace to break the single season record for # of receptions and possibly total yards in a single season. Robinson with 5 TDs well on his way to breaking the single season TD mark...could be a great race between Robinson and Sanders for that one.

Mike Ford had 23 INTs in 1978

Ford also threw 7 INTs againsat Ohio State in 1977

most TDs in a season - 26 by Willis

most INTs in a season - 23 by Ford

Could Mitchell break both records if he starts/plays all 12 games this year?

What is our lowest average score per game in a season? What about the highest average opponent score in a season? One thing is definatley certain......Jesse Henderson will be returning a lot of kickoffs!
