I know it's gameday, because....

Wearing jersey. Check.
Cold beer in hand. Check.

And a new found unbridled optimism. Everything leading up to this game was lose lose lose. And, I can say I expect anything other than a loss, but.... yes, that voice way back there is saying, "hey, dude, it's game day, buddy! They don't play the games on paper! There's a chance!"

Heh. Yeah, a chance. "Maybe we can get a little luck." Yeah, it's game day.

let's at least "compete". Last year was an embarrasment. I was ready for Bennett to go after that game.

Amen. I remember the excitement building all spring/summer for our ESPN game with no other games on TV that time, only to be dissapointed. I don't expect a win today but maybe they can keep it close? Nah.

That game last year was one of the biggest letdowns - of many - I have experienced at the hands of SMU football. I mean, we never even tried to win, it was all trying not to lose. Which I know won't happen with June.

I'm not talking about beating the spread. We've played these guys to some 10-14 pt games in the post death-penalty era. Need another one of those. We had a very competitive series with TTech before the death penalty and need to get back to that point. I think they've beaten us about 10-12 in a row since our return from purgatory and most games haven't even been competitive..

Yeah, really, just take one chance. Just one. You know, I could deal with a loss, no problem, I've dealt with many, but we never even once made, what I felt, was an effort to stretch the field, to take a chance, to try and win. It was actually depressing during the game. Boring, in fact.

SMU competed in most every game last year-just didn't have the defensive athletes to get it done.

I give them a lot of credit for not quitting last year - we may not win that much right now but our guys play hard.
