for Tech and Leach called off the dogs at the end of the 3rd.

thankful they ended the first and second halfs at the 1 yard line.

Leach had his 2 top backs in the game at the end-nuff said about his character.

Let us not forget that we put our defense in horrible situations. A mere 5 interceptions with 3 in the first quarter. That place the defense in unattainable situations. given the first 15 minutes, the D did OK. IT wasn't the D that lost tonight, it was the O. The O created opportunities for TTU and the D did as best it could.

The D is still not perfect...yet, but they did a fairly good job against Tech. They forced Tech to close up their gaps on the O-line and we did get pressure on their QB. Was it Stallon who said we would never touch Tech's QB? Well we did on a number of occassions and actually forced them to punt a few times. We still have a ways to go on defense, but considering who we were playing I thought they played much better tonight then they did in the first two games.

I concur with PK.

I hate to keep playing these shoulda, woulda, coulda games... But I think if you could somehow turn back the clock and take a mulligan on those 5 picks, this game is respectable.

Discussing BLM's passes against Texas State I mentioned to the friends I was sitting with that "throwing the ball up" like he was doing would work against Texas State, but that if he tried that against the Sand Aggies, they'd be picks. And sure enough... Kudos to the Sand Aggies though, a couple of those picks were spectacular.

All in all, the best defensive showing by the Ponies of the year, by far. There was pressure on the QB most of the night. Some good tackling, but still a lot of whiffs. Our line and linebackers were finally able to defend the option/sweep. Good coverage by our DBs with only a couple of exceptions -- the long reception by Crabtree where Rock appears to have just let him go being the big exception.

I was actually rather encouraged. I certainly feel a little better about being able to hang with TCU at home this week.

That's because his 3rd string back, Aaron Crawford didn't suit up due to turf toe;

The next on their depth chart is a True Frosh from Lawton named Harrison Jeffers that Tech is trying to redshirt;

The next down the list is a RS-FR that they are trying to decide if he does WR or DB;

The dogs were called off at 11:32 in the 4th--when Potts came in and the 2nd team OLine made its appearance.

What are you going to do? Tell kids that practice all week not to try to do their job and score? That's ludicrous and it's when people get injured because they are going half-speed to satisfy someone's definition of 'class'....


Leach has taken his medicine before-- he learned that 'If you don't like it, then stop it' line from Spurrier dominating him at Kentucky.

June's had his fair share of running it up as well.....63-3 v Northern Colorado and 66-10 v Charleston Southern last year come to mind.

I know the 'class' thing makes you feel better, but it's not like June's any different and there actually was a reason that Woods and Batch were still in. Would you rather have had Harrell still throwing to Crabtree as the clock sounded?

flatlander, i do know that leach could have stepped on us alot worse in the fourth quarter. I personally didn't care or mind since we have begged for mercy for too long at smu and need to get off the mat ourselves instead of whining, but here is one thing to note: last week against Texas State, jones was in the same position. we were at the goalline with less than a minute to go up 47-36. smu took a knee and did not run a play or go for a score. and our backups need as much or more experience as anybody i promise you that.

We don't care how you rationize it, very few coaches operate the way leach does. It is ok, we knew it was coming, but we'll call a spade a spade and the tech fans can crawl back in your holes. I would be disappointed with that game if I was a tech fan. 5 int's and that is all the points you can muster.

Best defensive play of the year. I was afraid Tech was going to score 80. Unfortunately we really had to sell out most of the time to apply the pressure. Yenga's a playmaker and secondary was decent considering their struggles the first two games. They're getting better, unfortunately they're starting from a pretty basis.

Maybe the biggest surprise...statistically speaking...is that TTech converted only 50% of their 3rd downs. That is by far the best showing by the defense this year

Actualy, a LOT of coaches operate the same way.....Miles, Saban, Spurrier, Mendenhall, Mack Brown, Stoops. Even June Jones.

I'd say your correct although I don't think Mack Brown belongs in that group-schools that feel like they have a shot at a BCS bowl realize that style points count. Tech basically will be the last school option ie pollster will always pick the traditional powerhouses over Tech for these types of bowls unless the evidence is overwhelming otherwise. Time for SMU fans to pull up their "Big Boy" pants. Leach did nothing outrageous last nite. Running the ball in the normal course of the game is part of playing ;60 minutes. SMU stood up and made the play-concentrate on that.
