Why are people complaining about the Tech game?Help me understand.
We all knew this game was going to be mess. On the predictions thread, most of you had Tech with a zillion points and us with very little. So when the game unfolds like many thought it would, everybody is going bezerk. Was this a severe case of amnesia or selective memory? What did you expect was going to happen? We're 0-13 vs. them since the Death Penalty. We've played poorly in Lubbock and that continued. Even the polyanna thinking of winning records this year still had this game as an automatic loss, anyway. We also knew the defense was going to have pretty much of a stinker year because of the lack of quality people up front -- to quote jtstang, I'm very concerned about our defense -- and others changed positions. So what are we talking about? This is going to be a tough season. See my 4-8 record. And it could look worse than that.
I thought there were many improvements in play last night. Probably they were just from experience alone.
Most of us were convinced long before the game was played that this was a sure loss. No one is shocked by the loss! What irritates me is to literally give it away. IMHO 5 INT 0 TD from BLM just so JJ can show his loyalty for Mitchell following him to SMU is not a valid reason to be playing a barely graduated HS QB. No coach is a Messiah who walks on water, and if we fans who care more than the average can't b & m over obviously poor decision making then what is the point of PF? Freshmen QB's sit and learn while those with experience play. If your players don't totally conform to your system then modify the system until you get the players you require to make your's work. RR at Michigan doesn't have what his system needs either but at least he'll improvise until he gets the players required. No one wants a throw away season just to prove the R & S is the second coming! SMU - IT'S YOUR TURN

Agree General. I, along with everyone else, expected to lose by about 30 points. That is what we saw. No-one should be complaining.
I have different expectations for this weekend, and will be on this board complaining, should we not make a game of it at home against the Frogs.
Agree completely. I stayed away from watching the game-took wife to dinner and a movie. I came home just as it ended and turned on the DVR and watched the game not knowing the result and fast forwarding between plays. I saw nothing I did not expect, except the final score (I thought we would score a few more points but they would win by more ).
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
I thought SMU played better than I expected, it would have been nice to see what would have happened had BLM not thrown 5 int's. I do hope JJ chooses not to call a long pass as the first offensive play against tcu, that is getting old.
PONY UP! FRY THE FROGS!!!
people like to complain

It goes against my nature to agree with Gomer, but he's right. Everyone knew this would be lopsided, and most people assumed it would be even more lopsided than it was. To me, several people were surprisingly competitive and effective. This team will perform a lot better THIS year. The improvement from each week to the next is visible.
Even though we lost, I'd like a do-over with Rice, with the assurance that we'd play like we did yesterday. Don't know that we would have beaten them, but we would have been closer, that's for sure. At the end of the season, I might even say it would be an even game.
whoopde freaking doo. Its Rice. We have played them close even in our worst years, until this one.
What I thought was truly PATHETIC was the absolute non-existant SMU fan support at the game. Did anybody travel from Dallas? I didn't set with the SMU fans in that small little corner but every time I looked over there Ijust shook my head. What, did you guys not know where Lubbock was?? No cheerleaders, no fans, dont think the team missed it either. PATHETIC!!!
You're joking right? We got drilled by Rice. And we gave up 30+ points to TX State. How Texas Tech didn't score 80 on us is beyond me...and I wouldn't have gone out there to watch them score the predicted 80 if I could either. It's not worth it, especially when you would have to sit by Red Raider fans as they run up the score on you. ![]()
yeah, its sad, but everybody knows this season is all about getting the freshman qb some experience, so that wasn't a real game, it was basically one of 11 scrimmages. People vote with their feet and lack of attendance and enthusiasm don't lie.
Oh that makes it all right huh? The problems at SMU are deeper than I once thought. Dis-functional at best. So, we wait until we think it's time, or it's a real game, or when we can experience a win, or when it is convenient to support the team?? Nice! reall classy. Let's don't do our part until the team has done their paart and is worthy of our attendance. By then, this team and JJ should just snub their noses! Come on, thick or thin the team needs support in a more sacraficing manner.
I was being sarcastic. I'm sure you are a parent of a player and I understand your point of view. I dont expect you to understand the point of view of the average fans of smu, but I sure wish Turner and the Board of Trustees would. They have been dilly dallying and making small baby steps for way too long. 6 or 7 years ago they announced we were on the same footing as our rivals, including tcu. Almost a decade later, its sure doesn't look like it at all.
