Who's Hot & Not ... From CFNJune Jones and Hawaii
The breakup hasn't gone well. June Jones's SMU team is 1-2, but 0-2 against FBS teams, losing to Rice and Texas Tech by a combined score of 99 to 34 with five touchdown passes and eight interceptions. Meanwhile, Hawaii has taken a bit of a drop since the end of last year. In the last three games against FBS team, Hawaii is 0-3 losing to Georgia, Florida, and Oregon State by a combined score of 142 to 27. Hawaii plays San Jose State next week while SMU hosts TCU. http://cfn.scout.com/2/791036.html
That is ridiculous. Or at least pointless. The only appropriate time to judge how JJ is doing is at the EARLIEST Game 7. We have also equaled our win total from last year, and lost by less away that we did at home to a higher ranked TT team. If people cannot see that we are improving, they should not be writing for a football magazine.
I can't see any improvement. Its certainly not ridiculous. That being said. Its not really important what SMU does this year. It would be nice not to bottom out again this year and actually compete with Division 1A Teams. Modest improvement-say 4 wins could have really helped recruiting.
I'm sorry that you see no improvement Stallion, and I will gladly throw my prostrate form at the base of the altar of the pantheon of football knowledge and insight that you embody, and allow the belfry of your immortal truths ring through my blissful ignorance.
Then I will take my optimism and go home. Smiling.
693 yards given up to Tech
36 points given up to Texas State(Division 1A) 56 points given up to Rice The offense is less competitive than last year I really don't see what you are talking about. I think SMU is very lucky not to have lost to Tech by a score of 64-14 or so.
Wow. Already referring to the season in the past tense, are we? We will get to four wins. I predicted five. Sticking with it. I have faith in Jones to identify and recruit kids to his offensive system, regardless of who else is recruiting them or their ratings. I am not saying Rivals doesn't matter, just that Jones knows what he needs and can go get it; I am sure Junes would love a 5 star receiver. On the other side of the ball, I am more concerned. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Stallion, there has been some improvement
![]() ![]() Comparing this year to last year after 3 games, the offense is averaging 6 more points a game, and have five times more TD passes (2 in '07, 10 in '08). BUT we've also thrown twice as many INT's (4 to ![]() On defense, we've given up an average of more than 11 points per game (135 this year, 101 last), and approx. 70 more yards a game, but the defense has forced 25% more turnovers (8 to 6) than this time last year. Oh, and we're about even on penalties, 19 this year, 21 last.
It's quite funny, isn't it. Sheeple are so predictable. If we win this week, people will be talking up BCS bowl expectations and how we're the greatest team ever. We're a team that's been bad for a long time who hired just the man to get us out of this mess. We're EXACTLY where anyone with half a brain could have expected us to be. A little perpective, folks. ![]()
pretty sure Stallion was talking about recruiting when he refererenced a lack of improvement.
