SMU didn't run the Run and Shoot tonite. They ran the don't bruise the shattered confidence of our True Freshman QB Offense tonite. Yeah SMU sure ran a vertical offense tonite. Its really sad when June jones flushes his own offense down the drain because our 4th string QB can't make the proverbial "quick read". [deleted]

Did anyone, anyone, expect to win the last two games against a top 10 and a top 25 team? We got beat by both because -- gasp! -- we're not yet a top 25 team. Sometimes I wonder about the grasp of reality on this board.

There's a differance in losing a hard fought game, and just getting your butts kicked. In the 3 losses, we haven't come close to being competitive, and in the 1 win, it was a hard fought game, against a 1-AA school!

Stallion's post needs to be committed to memory. There was something fundamentally wrong with the offense agaist TCU. It should concern all of us greatly.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Well perhaps. I think it was all the aspects of the offense that deal with keeping the pressure off the QB, like the shuffle/shuttle passes, quick passes, even the option. I think those are all part of the offense. We just did not see the marque part, the verticle part.

This brings up the irony of those who want JJ to adjust and those who have blamed him for adjusting.

I agree with Stallion on this one. There was very little vertical passing the entire game - which is what BLM will be good at eventually and what this offense is built for. I'm not a "play willis" croney - but if we are not going to use our full offense, then we might as well have given WIllis the shot and at least keep the ball away from TCU more and made them work harder.

If we want to play the frosh because we are building for the future fine - but if we are going to play him with a hand tied behind our back then there is no reason to play the game.

gotta remember that in 1989 SMU was recruiting kids to play in the run & shoot...in the SWC. Had a limited pool to recruit from because of academic restrictions, but we at least played against big boy football teams.

Hey, Jason Wolfe was an awesome player that year for us. I'll never forget his short TD catch against Texas to give us a 7-0 lead to start that 1989 game. Wolfe walked in untouched ! Remember that ???
