SMU at Tulane

greetings, I must saying I'm looking forward to seeing the new Pony team in person Thursday. Tulane - SMU games seem to typically be entertaining and hopefully this one will be.

After having Justin Willis be a player each CUSA team circled as having to try to gameplan for the last two years I am wondering why he hasn't seen been involved in the offense. Is he still in the doghouse or what?

Tulane's Defensive weakness's have been few and far between this year. I would have to say Tulane could be a bit faster at the CB position, though they tackles real well, and if you run the ball at the tackles of Tulane we are a bit undersized there. We get a lot of sacks though(led nation ins sacks per game going into last week). on Offense our running back is strong and durable but not a threat to break a long one. Our Qb is a pure pocket passer and is accurate with a good arm but has limited mobility. Our receivers seem to do a good job catching the ball, but are not great after the catch. Overall the O has done everything good, but nothing really well. The team has been very disciplined and efficient, with the exception of special teams which have been atrocious at times. Lastly our team has had trouble in the red zone.

the Ponies I see are a 14 underdog, but as I said earlier could find themselves in a good situation if they turn it into a track meet.

Maybe a minor hurricane will head towards NO and the game will be canceled.

It will be a short week for both teams. How will that affect the game? I dare say it hurts us as we have a new offensive and defensive scheme. This places the additional task of playing a scheme that kids are still learning and they have 2 less days to prepare.

I hate to say this but, The kids have not learned the scheme from last week or the week before or the week before.

Must be one hell of a scheme.

After they go to a tutor we will get the scheme and beat the spread!

Go Mustangs

Going to the Big Easy for the game... I take comfort in the fact that they serve Beer in the Superdome during Tulane Football games.

I don't understand what you're hinting at here. What do you mean by "Run the Ball"? Do you mean that as in "After the receiver catches the ball, he should run towards the DTs"? Or maybe, "before the QB throws the ball, he should step into the pocket towards the DTs"?

I think I remember something about "Running the ball" from last year, but really, that's just absurd.

Run the ball... indeed.

take Tulane and give up the points. SMU hasn't cover the spread for any game this year.

I don't think Tulane is 17 points better than anyone on our schedule. With our defense Tulane can win the remainder of the games on our schedule. But with our special teams, we can easily lose the remainder of the games on our schedule.

With that being said, I think Tulane wins this game going away. Our defense will be too much for a new qb and a young team to handle. Just ask Alabama and ECU (go and check out the stats for both of those games and you'll see what I'm talking about).

Roll Wave!
