Experienced Players

Until we get to the level we are playing redshirt juniors and seniors, we are going to struggle. We can't play 18 yr. olds vs. 23 and 23 yr. olds. It is apples to oranges. Only way I can see is to get a bunch of JUCOs one year and let your other recruits sit that year and get bigger and stronger.

Here's how the big boys do it -- Drew Allen the Alamo Heights QB down here is committed to Oklahoma. They are pushing for him to take classes to graduate early so he can enroll in OU this January. He is then been told he will redshirt for a year and not play until the earliest the year after that. That essentially gives him 2 and 1/2 years learning their system.

He is a nationally ranked QB out of high school and he is not being asked to start right away.

by playing BLM now, hes getting that experience under his belt now i thought. we just need better talent on D and lots and lots of JUCO talent to come in for the spring and fall. as for Allen, dont expect him to play at OU until Sam Bradford is gone. He started as a R-Fr.

Don't you mean as long as their court appearances don't interfere with the games? That's what all the BCS teams worry about.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

don't think we can be picky -- if JUCOs want to come here don't worry about court appearances unless they are for some felonies. besides, isn't stallion or someone else here an atty. who could get them a good plea bargain deal ? that's the way it is done at UT, A & M, etc.

my point is if we are serious about Div. I we got to get to where we can play older, stronger kids. Right now it is like we are sending an 8 grade team against a bunch of high school seniors. LSU and Auburn both had a couple of 24 and 25 year old defensive players. Rice even had the kid that played baseball and was 25 or so.

until we are playing juniors and seniors against their juniors and seniors I don't see us really being competitive. we need men and against men, and preferrably BIG men as I think BUS would say.
