JJ PC this morning

A few things of note:
-Loftin caught the TD pass with a broken clavicle. He'll be out awhile
-JJ verified bigdaddy in that JW has been a receiver for 10 days...the way it came across, JW was moved to receiver in much the same way Phillips was moved to TE or Chase was moved to tackle. He ain't going back.
-Says he liked the things done by the D Line.
I thought the most telling moment came on a question about the defense. When asked if he thought it was talent or confidence, he responded "well, that's a tough question for a coach...I think it's assignments and alignments, so...I'm definitely not going to throw anyone under the bus." I think by responding any way other than "it's absolutely the confidence thing. We've got the horses," JJ was restating what we all contend. Ponypride can perhaps add some context to this q&a exchange.
Also, regarding that 20-6 loss Tulane had at Alabama. It's even worse than I realized (from SMU's perspective): two of Alabama's TDs came from a blocked punt and an int. Take those breakdowns away, and it's a 7-6 ballgame. Not promising when you need your freshman QB to get more confidence.
JJ sounds befuddled as to why BLM doesn't execute in the game what he does execute in practice.

Doesn't sound all that encouraging. JJ sounds like Bennett and Caven after a few games on the Hilltop. It sounds like we just don't have the personnel to execute the game plans on both defense and offense. It is bad to see the one bright spot at receiver has fallen to injury. Maybe Aldrick can drop a couple of sure TDs this week or catch one and fight hard to get out of bounds before reaching the end zone. That assumes that we actually threw it in the general direction of one of OUR players.
It sounds like the defense will be intact this week. Maybe they will have learned a thing or two the last couple of weeks.

Maybe because he practices against our defense. (Sorry, that was too easy.)

I bet at least 50% of the fans who read that quote came up with that joke on their own-I guess that's why you only gave him an A- due to lack of originality.

thought the same thing as well. lets sure hope that this JW to WR experiement turns out better than CP to TE.

How many times did Phil Bennett tell us that Foy Munlin and Richeul Massey were "tearing it up on the scout team"? The fact that somebody does good when we practice against ourselves, means very little when it comes to game time..............it's been this way for a very long time.

You're right. Let's go find guys who don't do well (or "do good") when they're on the scout team.

BigDaddy question...JWill seems to be handling this all in stride...why didn't he transfer to another school?

Why would he transfer now and get 1 year to maybe play at a d-1 aa school and get a degree from Sam Houston State when he can get a degree for free at SMU...

Still has a year to play. He can graduate and still play D1AA.

I'm sure he is a great candidate to graduate on time.

he was quoted in an interview as saying he was set to graduate by the end of next semester-I haven't read his transcript.
