1) NOT firing Phil in 2006 meant that 2008 was a "season down the drain." I knew it in 2006, I would have thought everyone else would have figured it out at 1-6 in 2007.

2) JW can't execute this offense, everyone quit [deleted]. He is a WVa-spread-type QB - it's not even close to the RnS.

3) What we can aspire to this season is MAYBE 4-8, but also to be competive in our next 5+ losses. Tulane would be one of those "possible" wins, btw.

1) Unfortunately, what was foresight is now hindsight.

2) Seems that Coach's choice to run it isn't exactly running it well. He might do well to have considered more flexibility with his offensive system. Just gentle criticism. I think he'll get it; I just didn't want a guinea pig year so that recruiting wouldn't be such a mess. He didn't need a 9-4 Hawaii-esque season. But 5-6/6-6/7-5 would show significant strides and validate his credentials.

I think there are a lot of people spouting total [deleted] that must have never seen West Virgina play a single down from scrimmage. Do you people even watch other College Football games.

I said "-type" , as in JVarsity. JW accounted for what, 74% of our offense in runs and passes? Very WVa like. He is more suited to THAT offense than the RnS.

As in West Virginia's offense was really good and ours was... well, no need to pile on at this point.

I had a chance to see 2 WV games in person last year and their offense was very exciting and great. Big problem with their offense, as Rodriguez is finding out at Michigan, is that it requires a stellar QB who has tremendous running as well as passing skills. There are probably no more than one or two QB recruits in the country every year who have the diverse skills to make that offense run. The offense lives and dies with QB mobility and some passing ability. Despite their QB White returning this year they have several losses. Last year they had a 6'5" 260 lb. fullback, now in the NFL, who was an excellent runner/receiver and crunched defense linemen as a blocker. They also had huge offense linemen several of whom are in the NFL this year. They looked like an NFL team last year with their size, skill and speed. Their talent would have facilitated any offensive system.

How do you know that JW can't run this offense? I thought June Jones was an offensive genius and great teacher, hard to believe he could not have taken a record setting junior QB and turned him into a RnS guy.

On the other hand, I have seen Bo, a QB that came from a running HS school team, not even close to the spread or the RnS and I will say he cannot run this offense.

You can [deleted] that JW can't run this offense, but I would have a hard time seeing how he could do worse than Bo.

People just need to quit taking up for June and Bo and admit that JJ was going to start Bo regardless and stick with him, no matter what. His ego won't let him eat crow and take a chance that Turner or Willis might do a better job and make him admit he chose the wrong guy.

To Bobbi of the Dallas Morning News. I hope you are reading this. These are a couple of great questions to ask. "Is your ego getting in the way of going back to Willis? What do you see that proves Willis wouldn't give us a chance to win over a freshman? Aren't you the guru of QB's? Can't this offense be taught to a player who hasn't run the system?

I'll back JJ until he is gone. I think he has earned it. When just need to start asking tougher questions. I think we have earned that.

I still think that JJ will get much better recruits in the long run and 5 years down the road, we may be pretty decent. I just think we missed a great opportunity to knock 2 years off the rebuilding project.

Willis MAY have been able to eek us out 6 wins, got us in a crappy bowl and generate some real momentum in both recruiting and fan interest.... but by insisting on playing Bo, quieting critics by saying you would re evaluate the QB position after 3 games, then acting like you never had any real attention to do that, and staring eye to eye with a 1-11 or 2-10 season....well, that is a real momentum killer.

I will never understand why we just didn't red shirt the freshman, let them watch and learn and see if Willis could run the offense and make things happen.

basically Bagice-you were hoping that June Jones would have pulled off a Dennis Franchione. And boy did that pay immediate dividends in recruiting. (BTW I'm fully aware TCU and Franchione had much better recruiting classes to work with than June Jones' has at SMU right now-I still don't know how TCU managed to 1-11 in Sullivan's last year but to Sullivan's credit his recruiting classes were competitive).
