My wife and I went to the Bon Ton for our pre-game meal. There was a large group of Tulane fans tailgating in the restaurant. Really great guys and we had a long conversation about the up-coming game. Interestingly, the main thing they wanted to talk about was Ford stadium. They were very envious and were speculating where a similar type stadium might fit on the Tulane campus. Tulane simply does not have the fan base for the Dome. I guess we are extremely fortunate Mr. Ford stepped forward to make our wonderful stadium a reality.

That would be great if they could have their own stadium

Lets think this one through. Yes, a stadium like Ford would be a bonus for almost all non-BCS schools (and even some BCS ones as well). But do you really think a below ground stadium would be a really good idea in New Orleans?

Tulane once had a great stadium. It held over 80,000. It was the site of three Super Bowls and countless Sugar Bowls. Tom Dempsey kicked a NFL record 63 yard field goal there. In 1975, the day the Stupor Dome opened, Tulane Stadium was condemned.
I imagine older Tulane Alumni miss Tulane Stadium and the on campus environment. And Tulane had one of the best facilities on campus and destroyed it t play indoors.

They should play their games at Tad Gormley, the HS stadium that holds ~20,000. Every game would look like an overflow crowd.

Could Tulane Pony Up say 20 million ( I am sure the slush fund from levee money paid to brothers and cousins is that much, and not spent on levee work ) would be enough to add on to the public stadium?
I do believe that C-USA facilities have to have 30 grand.
