Could the SMU football team beat Southlake Carroll High

I have always had this fantasy about the best college football team in the nation playing the worst NFL football team at the end of the season. Then match up the worst college team playing the best high school team. I know it will never happen but it would be a lot of fun. I think SMU would beat SLCH.

Ponies by 31. Not even close. But Southlake isn't the best HS team in the US. They're not even the best in the Metroplex this year. I think Euless Trinity has the honor of being the Nation's #1 high school team thus far.

SLC would be the wrong high school team. The best high school team is Euless.

Back in the day, the NFL champs would play an exhibition game against a college all-star team, here is a pretty good article on it:

I remember watching Donnie Anderson in one of those games when I think the all-stars actually won.

Oh, and I think SMU could beat Southlake, but they would have it tough against Trinity and that running game.

Okay. Let's get one thing straight here. Even the so-called best high school team in the land could not beat a division 1a college fb (even a bad one). It's just a matter of talent across the board and depth.

How many players on SMU's team got offers to play D1a cfb? Answer: ALL OF THEM. Southlake? Maybe them or Trinity sends 4 or 5 per year to the college ranks AT MOST. The jump in competition level b/t high school and college is just too high.

Now if the best cfb team played the worst pro team, it might be a bit closer. But even then you are looking at a sizeable difference in the overall talent pools. In that instance it comes down more to football playing ability rather than just a gap in the sheer physical abilities.

5'11" 220 lbs will do for a hs OLM but even SMU can throw out DLM bigger, faster and stronger than that. At least with a horrible pro team playing a great college team the differences in size, strength, speed and overall athleticism are not nearly as big as b/t Trinity and a really bad D1a cfb team.

But can OU hang with UT? I don't like either school but that should be a fun game to watch.

SLC would not even score on SMU. It would be utter and complete domination with high school bodies coming off on stretchers. Big leap from high school to college.

No contest. SMU 100 - SLC or any other High School Team 0.

I'm liking these predictions. Maybe we should try to drop down to 5A next year.
