It's LIKE the economy stupid

SMU's recovery has to be related to the economic recovery. The recovery time must be equated to the time of the downturn. In the case of SMU,the downturn took a significant period of time. I see nothing but positive for the future of SMU football. Do I want immediate results...sure. Will results be immediate...no. I have been unable to attend games for the past several years due to work and distance from Dallas. I have, however, based on what I am seeing in the program now, decided to purchase season tickets next year and find a way to be there. I feel that next year will show the beginning of the benefits of good recruiting, and stockpiling (redshirting) of class athletes needed for depth. Of course we all want to win now and I still feel we will be pleasantly surprised overall when the season is done, but you must understand that the rest of the country is not sitting around waiting for SMU to catch up with them. They are progressing also, thus SMU must out recruit, out motivate, out think, out play, and eventually out score those with whom we compete. The primary reason the Baylor game looms as so bad is due to the thrashing by North Texas. That was due primarily to several early turnovers and a team giving up. They solved that problem against us and the game became a toss up. Not bad when you consider the built in advantage the BCS schools have in recruiting. Keep the faith, love the ponies, and support them now so you can proudly say you were part of their rebuilding program.

P.S. Also say a little prayer for improved special teams play!!!
