What ever happened to Band Etiquette?

Now that we seem to have the PA system turned down it was nice to acutally hear the bands play, but what ever happened to Band Etiquette? Where the directors and drum majors would actually look at each other to see if the other band was playing? Having both band playing at the same time is a train wreck for the fans.

I think Tulsa's director was too busy grooving to Rocky to pay attention to what was going on around him. I hope someday I'm cool enough to hang out in a leather jacket when it isn't cold.

I kinda liked the Tulsa Band's rendition of Bob Wills- "Take Me Back to Tulsa, I'm Too Young to Marry"

The guy in the leather jacket looked like the biggest tool I've seen in a while.

Perhaps our band should simply overpower theirs if they want to play at the same time.

I still think our band should double in size. It's annoying to see visitors come into Ford Stadium with a larger, louder band.
Don't know if it's possible or not, but I'd like to see it. You need numbers to fill that place with sound.

based on the stock response everytime this gets mentioned, I submit the following:

a) our band is already loud and sounds better than bigger bands
b) if you/we want a bigger band, we need to send $
c) go to diamondmclub.com or something like that to facilitate b)

Did I get it right, band guys?

You could get a bigger band without more money is you simply get more middle class students into SMU. I'm sure that one will be easier.

More scholy money will get more middle class students into SMU. Maybe the SMU Unbridled campaign will provide more band scholies.

NOT!

RUDE is an understatement. Tulsa played over our band, the PA, anything they could.....

That will be next year with the "Toot Your Own Horn" campaign.

It will be chaired by Bigdaddy102848582398.

I would disagree with a) subpoint 1. I don't know that I would consider the band loud. I know on Saturday I had a hard time hearing them over Tulsa's band.

I agree with your disagreeing. I'm just saying what they usually say. Actually Tx State and Tulsa both sounded louder. I'll have some additional perspective after the weekend of the Navy game. Whilst the Ponies are in Annapolis, I'll be subject to the Georgia and LSU bands.

BETTER than bigger bands - absolutely.
Loud enough - absolutely not. I love the band, but there are times, even with our attendance, when you can't hear them, and that doesn't even include when a-holes like Tulsa step all over their playing time.

I was offended by Tulsa's band playing during Varsity after the game. That was a serious breach of etiquette.
