For those that are interested...

SMU #118 out 120. Not too shabby for the highest paid non-BCS coach.

Please...he hasn't even had a full year here yet...hired late in the recruiting season...left with PB's recruits. Geez, give me...no...give him a break. You may be right on the money, but let's get at least a full year under his belt before we start taking broadsides at him.

How is that? We lose to Texas Tech (Top 10), TCU (Top 25) and in a squeaker to an undefeated Tulsa team and end up #118 out of #120? That's probably the same pollster who called the election for Dewey in '48. We are much better than that ranking.

And everybody needs to lay off JJ. He inherited a program that was mismanaged for the better part of the last 11 years, and is just mid-way through his first season starting a young team, many of whom didn't have the benefit of spring practice. Give the guy a break. I believe!

Just look at how o'leary took over ucf and made them a winner after his second year. and look at what butch davis is doing right now at unc, with him there unc wont be just a basketball school. i think with the progress were making i have hope for the future. we just cant take any steps backwards the rest of the year.

unfortunately not, everyone likes to quickly bury this team and say were the typical garbage smu team and we wasted $ on june. we'll get this thing turned around.

i had a job interview today and two of my interviewers mentioned smu football and were curious as to why they haven't heard anything about smu football in quite some time. i said we now got june jones and they both concurred that he'll turn it around with some time. it strangely comforted me a little bit

I have 2 high school football coaches here in NE Pennsylvania asking me to keep them posted on how JJ is doing and how recruiting is progressing. Without JJ they would have zero interest and would not be asking how things are progressing. These are coaches who currently have kids playing for ND, Pitt, UConn, Penn State plus Princeton, Cornell, Lehigh. JJ is more important than many people may realize. It is really refreshing to know SMU is generating interest this far from Texas.

I have to agree.

People will see me when I'm wearing an SMU sweatshirt here in socal, and start a conversation related to JJ and how he is doing.

Most remember the "glory days" of the Pony Express and are looking forward to a resurgence.

So in someways it appears that the "C of C" are getting a small "ROI"!

The pollster is not paying attention. Tulsa is ranked 26 by all polls and we gave the game away. If we had won, like we could have, we would have a more realistic ranking, and Tulsa wouldn't be so over-rated.

Maybe the pollster is cognizent of the fact that bad teams give away sure wins.

I think we are right where we belong. We have earned this lowly ranking. Mistakes galore including two interceptions to defensive lineman, fumbles, penalties, blown coverages, dropped TDs and an inability to make solid tackles catches up with a team. Close but no cigar doesn't improve one's rankings except for Notre Dame.

We want some respect and improved rankings, we have to earn it by winning.
