we had our o-fer year, then were o-fer some more, then beat San Jose St, mostly because they actually sucked more than we did, and we brought down the goalposts etc etc?

Well, since then they've been to a bowl game, and this year they're 5-2, 3-0 in the WAC.

...and we all talked about a Cotton Bowl trip that year. It was our first game, first win and last win that year. Seems like yesterday.

Does anyone remember when our only victory was beating Arlington State Rebels? Yes, we played Jr college teams (like current BCS schools will play 2nd tier schools) back when Dandy Don was getting his a** kicked as a Cowboy QB before the tide turned for the Cowboys. I think SMU went to the Sun Bowl, then Cotton Bowl just a few seasons after an 0-7 SWC campaign. History can repeat itself. By the way, SMU won the SWC basketball title that same year...
