Bad clock management, throwing the ball on 3rd down, incomplete pass stops clock instead of running 39 seconds off the clock. Winning score came with 24 seconds left. However, Mitchell did a good job at the end of working the clock to put them a position to win.

Not calling time out with 10 seconds or so left.

Bad calls by officals. Calling personal fouls that were good hits. Houston player did not hit helmet to helmet but was a solid play.

SMU roughing the passer was not a penalty because he was in the air as the QB released the ball.

All they needed was a field goal, there is a good chance they could have still gotten in field goal range with 24 fewer seconds. They would have still had over 1 minute.

Throwing, and completing, the pass was the only way to secure the game. Do you trust this defense to with the game? I'd bet on the O winning it rather than the D.
