The Rest of the Season: Your Predictions

I'm sitting here this Monday a.m. looking at schedules and crunching stats. The good news is that the hard part of the season is over. The bad news is that looking into my mystic 8-ball, the outlook is still fuzzy.

With four games left, our remaining opponents are definitely middle of the road.

Navy is 4-3, but they have a win over Air Force who beat Houston earlier in the season.
Memphis is 3-5
UTEP is 3-4, but they beat Tulane and UCF who in turn beat us
Southern Miss is 2-5

Now that we have a better handle on who we are, where we are and where we're going, is anyone willing to go out on a limb and predict the rest of the season?

If the Mustangs beat the Midshipmen next week, I'll sign on with believe we're making progress.

I think we beat Memphis. Navy on the road is going to be tough as is UTEP. I also think we can hang in there with Southern Miss and a legit chance of winning that game. Guys, stop thinking about wins and losses for the remainder of the year. As long as we continue to get better each week we'll be fine. Next year this is going to be a really interesting team in C-USA.

We were 14 points dogs to Houston and 25 point dogs to Tulsa. So why would you say this could get ugly early? I predict we play Navy close and lose in the final 2 minutes. Its the pattern.

Honestly? Two weeks ago, I was ready to say we'd finish 2-10.

After going toe-to-toe with Tulsa High and Cougar High, I'm going to say we win three of four. Seriously - we've been THAT close the last two weeks, and different players seem to (stealing JJ's term) have the light come on each week. We're close - hopefully very close.

winning 2 of the final 4 games would not be surprising at all, given the improvement the team has shown ... at the beginning of this season, tulsa probably would have scored about 85 on us

I was wondering who else that was in the stands with me. I should have introduced myself.

Navy will be a tough game and UTEP is hard to judge because they are very inconsistent. However with the other two games against memphis (3-5) and Southern Miss (2-5) and the progress we have made in the past two weeks i will be disappointed if we lose these game. I predict 3-1 and more realistically 2-2

I am thinking 2-2 with a chance at 3-1.

In any case, I think our best shot is So. Miss. That is our bowl game. We have a week off to get ready and their D is bad, TTL D 102, PAss Eff D 103.

Memphis has the best D we will face the rest of the way at TTL 72, Pass Eff D 79. That makes me wonder about that game.

UTEP has by far the worst D left. TTL 112, Pass Eff 116.
