I go away for a month and nothing has changed
Posted: Mon Oct 20, 2008 2:55 pmI've had some personal things come up and it's taken me away from the board. Don't know how much I will be able to stop by in the future but nonetheless, I had a couple of minutes today.
To the cynics and doomsayers -- WHATEVER!! I just see a team that is growing and just has to learn how to finish games. I hate that we lost the Tulsa and Houston games too but I'm sure many of you who thought we were going to get blown out CONVENIENTLY switched your argument to us not holding on at the end.
Lack of defensive depth and having that signature moment to turn it is something that's lacking. Finishing is a process. They'll get it. I would trust Jones and his staff to get them to that moment.
I talked with mrydel before the Houston game and said the only things I want to see for the end of the year are:
1. Is this group getting it in October and November. Yes, it is.
2. Are the players playing for June and this staff. IMO, Yes!
They are a better coached.
Careful, folks! This team is getting better and some of you are missing it. Does that mean that we're going to a bowl game in 2009? Who knows? I'm looking at 2010 as the year where this program is going.
BTW, whoever thinks that passing on 3rd and 4 with 2:00+ in the fourth quarter against Houston is playing not to lose is absolutely drunk or high. Loved the aggressiveness. You play to win. If Wilkerson holds that, that's your signature play.
Oh, and BEHOLD THE POWER OF THE BIG TEN. Can't wait for the battle at the Horseshoe with Penn State at Ohio State.
