He looked pretty quick on the few carries he got.

He and Lee give me some hope for next year's RB situation.

NEWS FLASH - a team full of Lunday's and Lee's will not break .500 in C-USA

.....in their Senior years. Now a couple of these guys might become complementary players but quite frankly I believe-and hope-much of the vaunted 2008 Class are "recruited over". I see about 3-4 guys in the Class that probably have a chance to really be key players in a top football program. I think we already "recruited over" the offensive line recruits and several of the Receiver recruits.

I don't understand what your saying. What do you mean by "recruited over"?

See highlites of Darius Johnson on Recruiting board. "Recruiting over" means when SMU gets some better recruits a lot of the vaunted 2008 Class are going to be riding the bench.

In this offense I don't care who the backs are.

yes; you really should. In this offense, as in ANY offense, you have to be able to run effectively enough to keep the defense honest. The LBs are dropping to cut off the passing lanes and there are opportunities for a RB with quick feet and the ability to see the field an cut back effectively to run to daylight. Lunday showed that ability, although at 175 lbs, it may not take many shots to affect his health

There are opportunities for a running back in this offense based on what defenses must do to combat the passing game; however, our O line simply has provided few opportunities for any running back to find an initial hole and clear the line enough to use any quickness or running skills. Our backs are getting hit as they take the hand off or within a step of getting the ball. They simply have had no chance to make any runs and losen up any defenses. Our dismal stats support this problem.

That (bold) statement carries a lot more weight if you name them. I'm not challenging you - I agree with you - but I'm curious who you see as future cornerstones.

To me, it's Taylor Thompson, Chris Banjo, maybe Cole Beasley or Cole Loftin ... and who knows what we have in the redshirts.

Im also interested to see how the 2 greyshirt linebackers pan out. As well as a few of our redshirted OL and Drewery. I think Keith Robinson will eventually be a player. And maybe one of our DT's will step up once they get more experience

He looked pretty good We would have been better off the entire game, putting McKinney at fullback, Lunday at tailback and running the ball 20 times.

Lunday showed a nice burst, and I have heard that coaches and teammates alike are impressed with his overall athleticism. In the little we saw on TV, I'd have to agree.
