[quote]So, I’m in the Denver airport, pretending to mind my own business, when I run into one of June Jones’ friends.
Apparently a bunch of guys from Hawai‘i are going to Dallas this weekend to attend the SMU game and hang out with Jones.
Then the guy says: “June’s looking forward to coming home.â€

Waste of resources to play a team our fans have zero interest in. I agree, this is stupid.

I'd play this game in a heartbeat if it was given a prominent National Showcase. It would be 3 hours of talking about the great accomplishments of June Jones. An SMU commercial-of course we'd play it. Big Picture people-stop thinking small-ball. The Goal is to build a strong nationally prominent program not go 6-6 and go to the Weed Eater Bowl.

This would be a game early in the 2010 season (the week before or after Hawaii plays USC) and given past experience with ESPN and the WAC's expanded deal with ESPN I would expect the game to be featured on ESPN. The exposure would be good for both teams (it isn't a coincidence how ESPN hypes teams that it happens to be televising later in the week) and it wouldn't cost SMU any money because the Hawaii exemption would enable SMU to play an extra game in 2010 (basically, the game in Hawaii doesn't count towards the max number of games for the season).

I'd rather Hawaii play Pac-10 teams, but Hawaii has 2 openings in 2010. The standard deal for a visiting team would be for UH to cover the travel expenses plus a $200k -$400k stipend.

It would be three hours of talking about how hard it has been for Jones over the last two years. Unless you think Jones is going to have this thing turned around next year, which you don't.

Don't forget your "commercial" will kick off at 10 at night Texas time if it is shown on ESPN or ESPN2 at all. With all due respect, CSTV games don't get us that much exposure.

Mack Brown was smart enough not to go to Hawaii.

Big picture, my @$$. We need that Weedeater bowl more than anything. Let's figure out how to get this taco stand off the ground before we start talking about franchising.

Sarah Palin thinks the Continent of Hawaii will be a State by 2010.

(I really do like her. It is just some sad humor)

On the bright side, she gets to go back to Alaska and hunt moose. Shooting squirrels in the rose garden would not have satisfied her.

....plus if her Alaska separtist husband is successful she could become the Founding Mother of the Repulic of Alaska.

That gives me almost two years to save up my SS checks for the trip. Not counting my monthly stimulus check I have been promised.

When the wealth gets redistributed, all plane tickets will cost the same. Probably be relatively cheap for Hawaii but I will now have trouble on my trips to Dallas.
