So does this mean Texas becomes #3 or do they drop to because of the close Baylor game.

I live in PA and follow this team fairly closely. At the start of the season I really believed they were a 6 and 6 team. They played the 2d weakest pre-conference schedule of any BCS team which gave them 4 cripple wins to start the season. Early top 25 ratings to Illinois, Ohio State and Wisconsin made their schedule look passable. Illinois, Ohio State and Wisconsin were all exposed early in the season with losses. In fact, Wisconsin and Illinois were really down and fell way out of the top 25. As a result, the OSU game was the only challenge for their whole season. Fumbles by OSU frosh QB Pryor gave the game to PSU. Their offense was really exposed generating only a FG. The rest of the schedule looked like a cake walk. Hooray for Iowa exposing a team that is not that good and does not deserve a BCS bowl game lets alone a shot at a national title. The Big 10 is a very average conference and I can think of no one who can make any argument that the Big 10 is so strong that they beat each other up and that this is one of those beat up games. They do not even expose regular season winner to a title game. This argument is valid in the SEC or Big 12; however, not in the PAC 10, Big 10 or Big East this year. Again, this exposes the fatal flaws in the BCS concept facilitating automatic and inferior "in group" teams into the big bowls. It is possible this year that teams with 3 losses could be in a BCS bowl game. Thank you Iowa.

Iowa came into this game with a record of 5-4. But in its victories, it outscored its opponents by an average of about 40 points per game, while the four losses were by 12 points ... combined. This is the best 5-4 (now 6-4) team you'll ever see. They're better than Penn State and should have won by more. Records aside, Iowa is the better team.

So is Texas A&M, but good teams have no problem winning there. That powerhouse Northwestern was somehow able to pull out a win at Iowa this year.

I could make up alot of excuses, but this pretty much explains it all
Iowa sophomore quarterback Ricky Stanzi, in the first late-game test of his career, led the Hawkeyes from their own 28 with 4:16 left to Northwestern's 8. Three straight incompletions followed, and Wildcats defensive lineman Quentin Davie knocked Stanzi's fourth-down pass to the turf to seal the victory.
and you can't even compare playing at a&m and iowa when a&m gave up 66 to Oklahoma
