BCS Championship Game

With Penn State and the Big 10 now eliminated from consideration...can we just declare the title game will feature the winner of the Big XII against the winner of the SEC?

From where I sit, these are by far and away the 2 strongest conferences this year, so throw out the records...let a 1 loss USC or 1 loss Penn State or undefeated Utah complain all they want...nobody will be more deserving than the winners of those 2 conferences. The PAC 10 and Big 10 need to step it up...or until they do, they need to have a team so dominant they run the table to warrant an invite to the title game.

Advantage to the conferences who have 12 teams and play a championship game. After all, didn't that 2 loss LSU team from last year make Ohio State look pretty inferior?

Oklahoma, Texas or TTech vs Alabama or Florida

USC vs Penn State in the Rose Bowl (consolation game)

Better hope either Utah or Boise loses a game or both might "qualify" (BCS nightmare)

I would agree if both champions are one loss teams.

But...

If any of them lose two then it is all up in the air.

USC is having another of their "Penaltyfests" tonight.

The problem with LA Teams is that they believe if they show up the other team should just concede the game to them!

USC is so talented yet so undisciplined that if they do get to Miami I afraid Florida is going to really spank them!

it'll only happen if the fiesta bowl (most likely choice) doesnt select Ohio State/Penn State whoever finishes second in the Big Ten...

i'd rather have both of those teams )BSU & Utah) play in a BCS game this year than have 2 overrated big 10 teams play and get more money...spread the wealth@!!!

Championship game: SEC v. Big XII winners
Rose Bowl: USC v. Penn State
Orange Bowl: ACC champ v. Boise State
Fiesta Bowl: Big East champ v. Utah
Sugar Bowl: SEC v. Big XII runner ups

thats how it should go down in my books

I agree HB...if Mizzo wins the BigXII, I can see USC in the NC game, altough they don't deserve it.

If OU, UT and Tech all have 1 loss...who plays in that BigXII Championship game?

If OU beats Tech and they all win out that means a 3 way tie for the south title but i believe that UT owns the tiebreakers among the 3 schools. so UT would back door its way in the title game

If three or more teams are tied, steps 1 through 7 will be followed until a determination is made. If only two teams remain tied after any step, the winner of the game between the two tied teams shall be the representative.
1. The records of the three teams will be compared against each other.
2. The records of the three teams will be compared within their division.
3. The records of the three teams will be compared against the next highest placed teams in their division in order of finish (fourth, fifth and sixth).
4. The records of the three teams will be compared against all common conference opponents.
5. The highest ranked team in the first Bowl Championship Series Poll following the completion of Big 12 regular season conference play shall be the representative.
6. The team with the best overall winning percentage [excluding exempted games] shall be the representative.
7. The representative will be chosen by draw.

those are the tiebreaker scenarios

here is a link to the DMN tie breaker scenario from this past week

http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent ... 1d531.html

basically if there is a 3 way tie, OU has no chance of playing for a Big XII title and more than likely UT would get back doored into the game because they would most likely have a higher BCS ranking if Tech falls.

tiebreaker will most likely be in the hands of the computers and coaches

1. Wash
2. Wash
3. Wash
4. Winner is Texas for defeating Mizzo???....if it is solely on W-L record...another Wash
5. What if OU leap-frogs UT in the BCS standings...I would think it would be Tech as the least likely to advance.
