Why is it our seconday never has any clue when the ball is in the air? Half the time the ball hits them in the back of the helmet rather than making the interception.

Boy is Mrydel going to give me a lashing for this rant.

maybe we should adapt the high school policy of yelling "PASS" and "BALL" when the time comes

We yelled "Oskie" when the ball was in the air-never knew what that meant.

A coach cannot over come a player's lack of speed, strength, height, talent and experience. Take a good look at the reality of the SMU situation.

Yes, you are whining again. Also, you are supposed to yell Oskie when you intercept the ball so your teammates know to turn and block for you. It should be just understood to look for the ball as a defender when the receiver starts to raise his hands to catch.

And no, I do not know what Oskie means either.

Actually, the did that yesterday. You know, when it was so quiet in the stadium you could hear the signals being called. The entire sideline was yelling "PASS!" and "RUN!".

Come on now. SMU has a national reputation to uphold in the sideline calling out what is going on the field. I can't remember the exact phrase, but we were torched by the announcing crew in the TTech Labor Day game for calling out our blitz package for everyone in the stadium to hear...

I saw this happen several times and I understand their wr definatly had a size advantage, but i can not handle watchin our dbs just not even trying to do anything to stop him. With db's playing like they did yesterday I am certainly not suprised that we lost to another 3rd string qb

Not trying to do anything? In that picture, McCann is nearly in the earhole of the guy's helmet, and the caption refers to him breaking up the pass on the play.

On the other hand, I don't know how that Singleton guy (the 6-8 dude) doesn't have five touchdowns every week. You can line up 11 HS all-America DBs, and there's still nothing they can do with a guy that big. No, he's not blazing fast, but he can jump, he has good body control and he can catch. I think I could throw jumpballs up there he can catch. He should lead the free world in TD catches.

that picture did show a good effort but i was refering to photo 15 where he is just standing next to a leaping singleton i remember seeing this happen on a few occasions. against any other memphis receiver they were agressive but against singleton they acted like they were already beat and that there was no sense in trying

OUr d-line is poor and our linebackers don't make plays. Because of this, both safties play close to the line of scrimmage. On deep jump balls, you get the saftey over to help out the short corner, that is how you make the play. But with no saftey help it is difficult for any corner to guard a tall receiver like that.

We just don't have the personell up front to allow us to play a cover 2.

Big difference. During the Tech game, of the linebackers was yelling "ALL OUT" when they would audible to a blitz. The sideline wasn't necessarily doing it.

It's pretty common for the sideline to yell out what the play is after the snap. Hell, they even do it in the NFL.

The one aspect of the game that can be improved on that hasn't is our secondary remains very bad tacklers. This is true for the entire D but the secondary has stood @ re: this over the last several years.

Lets face it, our D is like a JV team playing the varsity.
