I was just looking over their schedule and it has been pretty cupcake filled...
8/30 @ No. 9 Clemson 1-0 (0-0) W 34-10 -Has fallen apart
9/06 Tulane 2-0 (0-0) W 20-6 -CUSA Team
9/13 Western Kentucky 3-0 (0-0) W 41-7 - Not a real team
9/20 @ Arkansas 4-0 (1-0) W 49-14
9/27 @ No. 3 Georgia 5-0 (2-0) W 41-30 - has proven to be not as good as expected
10/04 Kentucky 6-0 (3-0) W 17-14
10/18 Mississippi 7-0 (4-0) W 24-20
10/25 @ Tennessee 8-0 (5-0) W 29-9 -got beat by Wyoming at home
11/01 Arkansas State 9-0 (5-0) W 35-0
11/08 @ No. 16 LSU 10-0 (6-0) W 27-21 OT

Not really as good of a schedule as I thought they would have...

@clemson
@arkansas
@georgia
@tennessee
@LSU

not really a cupcake. sure clemson was overrated to start the season, yes tennessee and arkansas are having down years, but those are 5 extremely tough road games

in comparison Texas has

FAU (high school team)
@utep (C-USA)
Arkansas
Rice (C-USA)
@ Colorado (lost to mizzou 58-0, might finish 5-7 after 3-0 start)
OU
Mizzou (if you think Georgia is overrated then what is Mizzou?)
OSU (see mizzou)
@Texas tech (can texas win in a hostile environment?)
Baylor (It's baylor at home...)

@ Kansas (really? did you see them play tech?
A&M (they almost lost to army at home)

Texas has 3 wins against the Top 13 most of which have only lost to Top 5 teams and a last second loss to the No. 2 team on the Road. Alabama's has beaten the No. 12 team. Alabama deserves to be above Texas but UT has played the tougher schedule.

Actually, the Clemson game was at a neutral site.

LSU has give up over 50 points twice this season and will likely finish with 4-5 losses. Is that the sign of a good team?
If Wyoming (bottom of MWC) can win at Tennessee, just how tough of an environment is it?

Depends on what kind of season those teams are having. Sometimes reputation exceeds realism.

You're right. And Tenneessee and Arkansas are viper pits this year. I'll give you the Georgia and LSU venues. And Texas won in the Ozarks a few years ago.

And beating OU in Dallas is no fun, when half of the building hates your guts.

Look we can argue this until sundown and point everybody's flaws. The system APPEARS to have it right for this week. We'll see what happens when the final poll comes out on December.

i think we can all agree the all powerful SEC is down this year and the Big 12 has stepped up.

the downside that people dont look at about the SEC is that most of their non conference games are CUPCAKE teams...

and they get some of those cupcakes midway thru conference play

This topic will be completely mooted by the time we get to the NC game. If Alabama beats Florida in the SEC Championship game then noone can say they don't deserve to play for the championship. If they don't beat Florida, they won't be there. Period.

The Big XII is definitely having a better year, but year-in-year out the schedule in the Big XII does not compare to the SEC. The Big XII North still sucks. And the teams in the South are scoring tons of points against one another. You say the offenses are great, I say the defenses can't stop anyone. We will know for sure soon enough.
