Practice time

I met the UH AD recently and he mentioned that June Jones is one of the few HCs in D-I that has morning practices. It seems that it's probably because he likes getting the players up and active early in the morning. He did this at Hawaii as well so I suppose it's not a weather thing.

Another interesting thing is that the wrap around the practice gates has been off for a while. SMU doesn't mind others watching practice? Well, I admit it's pretty conspicuous if someone stands outside the gate to watch but most practice fields have some obstruction around them.

Lastly, it's fun to take my boy to CDP at HPUMC and see the team each morning. He mixes up the Cougars and Mustangs with the red and white uniforms but he prefers SMU games since Ford has a bounce house. :D

Beat USM!

The wrap/covers on the fence around the practice field was a Bennett addition brought on I guess because he became paranoid and didn't want anyone to see his coaching style because he was starting to get people upset with his screaming at the players...or some such stuff. Who knows.

I get the feeling from some of the early comments from JJ that he doesn't really care who sees what he is doing during practice because if the execution is on target, no one can stop his offense even though they know what he is going to do.

John Chaney made his Tmple hoops teams practice really early in the a.m (before classes) and admitted that part of the reason was to keep guys out of the bars at night
