I'm thinking 2010 we ought to be at lesat in contention for a bowl game. By then all these freshmen on both sides of the ball will be upperclassmen with two years of starting experience. Next year is going to be another rough one (probably 4-8 if a few bounces go our way) but I hope we're 6-6 or 7-5 by 2010.

A couple weeks ago Coach Jones told the San Antonio Quarterback Club that he anticipated a conference championship in 2 1/2 years. I took that to mean 2011. He also said this years commitments were better than any he had at Hawaii. Of course he also said he had anticipated having about 3 or 4 wins by now. (about two weeks ago). I think if he signs a bunch of good defense players this year and they play next year then 2010 should be the big turn around year.

You mean you think we'll lose to SFA?

2010 will not be a turn around year, our OOC teams are Missouri, Texas Tech, Navy (at navy) and TCU. So we are 0-4 OOC. say we win half of our conference games. Or even go 5-3. The best we can do is 5-7 or if we can beat an OOC team 6-6

Instead of scheduling A and M, Texas Tech, Missouri I wish we would schedule some really bad BCS teams. Like Washington State, Iowa State, Syracuse, Indiana... This way we have some shots at winning so we can actually make a bowl! I know there are those of you who want to play the tough games, however we dont have any chance of beating these teams in the next several years.

2011 Will be the first year we have even a chance at having a winning season in my opinion . But my guess- 6-6

if you guys are planning on riding this freshman class to a bowl in 2010 and a CUSA Championship therefter you are in for a BIG letdown. We could get there-well just about anybody can go bowling in CUSA - but a strong football program will have to come from definite improved recruiting in future years. I could buy that the 2009 Class might be the foundation of a future bowl team combined with quality 2010 and beyond classes.

Yea 2012 looks the year B. Smith will be the 5th year qb. If the recruiting is any good this year and next 2012 it is.

Smith redshirted this year - should be in his fifth year of the system. I have not seen Mitchell, Smith or Padron play but friend of mine in the sports side of the state education system who had seen both Smith and Mitchell play quite a bit as seniors said Smith had the most upside for D1 ball, could be JJ swansong ace in the hole ??

Yeah, I am really hoping B Smith emerges from his redshirt year and gets a chance to play next year, and does awesome!! I just dont see BLM going from 23/21 with 2500 yards in the R and S, to stats that will get us anywhere in 1 year. Braden Smith seemed good in fall practice.
