Given what we've seen since 1989, it almost feels surreal that this kind of football was played on the Hilltop. Enjoy the trip down memory lane.

It would be great if we could ever even approach anything like that again....and this time around I wouldn't be 1 year old, so I could actually enjoy it :D

I was there, still have my ticket stub. What a great atmosphere, a ton of SMU fans, a ton of hog fans, and it was a real battle on the field. I was Junior in High School and had just got my DL, first game I ever drove to, was there with a buddy.

My seats were right by that pass interference call, and all I will say is that we were pretty fortunate, didn't look like interference to me, but I will take it.

My one regret that game is that we didn't try a bit harder to get in better field goal range at the end, seemed to me that SMU was happy with the tie and played it conservative to settle for a 52 yard attempt.

Good times though!

I flew home from London, had great seats, everyone was crazy, there was so much noise and atmosphere in the stadium that there was litterally a haze over the field! Now it just seems like a dream...

When I opened up this thread I just knew that something important must have happened in the Big 11 on this day.

It just adds to the mystery when you open up the thread, doesn't it?

Back to the topic, I found the story really interesting. Style of writing was do different then.

Jealousy won't get you very far.

Wait for the complete defensive post shortly.

This was also the date of the famous Cal-Stanford game.

Giving up 330 yards rushing, SMU should be embarrased
