Horrible idea. Being in the WAC worked out so well for us.

I guess we could change our name to the SMU Larry Browns.

But if the MWC comes to us..........

TCU will NEVER allow us to join the MWC. They want nothing to do with us.

TCU might want a "travel partner" but definitely not SMU, which they feel is beneath them now.

If we join the MWC, look for TCU to bolt - just like they did C-USA.

It ain't gonna happen, anyway, because we have nothing to offer the MWC. Terrible football and men's basketball, no fan support, no TV audience. And now our non-revenue sports like soccer are sliding. The only thing we bring is strong academic showings for our athletes, and that won't get you into any conference.

"to enhance its growing reputation as a football powerhouse"

We don't seem able to add value in this respect, at least not for the immediate time.

"being in the fifth largest TV market in the nation"

Who cares? No one watches us, including most of our own students.

Southern Methodist University has never been considered for the Mountain West Conference, at least in the executive talks.

Then you are in a very small minority. When we were playing those schools we barely took a handful of fans to games on the west coast, and they barely brought a handful here. Basketball games that ended after midnight were, frankly, a serious pain in the [deleted]. Half the time the DMN wouldnt even cover our road games, because they ended after deadline.

A conference that spread out is a bad idea. The frogs may love the competition and the attention, but even they will admit that the distance between schools is a problem.

Sounds surprising similar to the current (home/away) attendance

problems that continue to plague the Ponies as members of the

so-called "regional" C-USA.

I am thinking more like 9-4A than MWC.

Not interested at all in the MWC. I want to be a top tier C-USA team and then kick Baylor out of the big 12
