BCS = Total Disaster

I am waiting for the rankings to come out and just dont know what to think. Currently, it looks like this:

1. Alabama
2. Texas Tech
3. Texas
4. Florida
5. Oklahoma
6. USC
7. Utah
The rest doesnt matter.

Big 12 obviously saw TTU blow up last night. Total domination by OU, making some think they should blow past Texas in the standings since Texas lost to Tech. While that's true, Texas lost on the road and OU won at home during Tech's first big-time road game of the season. And add to that, OU faced off as #1 against Texas at a neutral site and lost, making me wonder how on earth they could jump the Horns in the polls. I agree that they obviously crushed Tech, but look at what Texas did to Mizzou at home a few weeks back. Not to mention that Tech was the 4th top ten opponent that Texas had played in as many weeks, while OU got Tech at home on the tail end of their run against UT, OSU, and the Sooners.

Bottom line: I look to the best data point available - a head to head matchup on a neutral site - and keep Texas above Oklahoma in the rankings.

Hold on, though.

Staying with the Big 12, look what's ahead: Rivalry Week. Texas gets A&M at home and OU heads back out on the road to face Ok. State. Let's say OSU knocks off OU and Texas wins. Then you have OU falling out of contention, Texas moving up, BUT Texas Tech heads to Kansas City and likely brings home the B12 Championship. Then what? All three are done?

You could argue that USC should move up and play the winner of the SEC, except the Trojans have one problem: the Pac 10 doesn't have a championship game. Without playing that week, how can one team leapfrog another, meaning Texas could still have a shot in this scenario. Don't forget, still, that USC likely will not be a conference champion. So what now? I know some would argue that Penn State should get a look, but i would say this situation would call for Utah to get the nod, given its undefeated season. Problem with that is the Utes are clearly not a top 2 team.

Playoff anyone??

Back to the SEC for a minute. What if FSU steals one from Florida, which has already earned the right to play Alabama for the title???? If that were to happen and the Gators then beat Alabama, you could see a Texas OU rematch for the title. USC fans - especially HB - would be up in arms about this. But again, how do you move up in the poll when USC and either TX or OU wont play? I argue that two teams - call them #3 and #4 - should not change relative position with each other in a week when NEITHER team plays.

I think this is just a total disaster. What did you say? Playoff??

I really believe every conference should play a championship game.

Complete joke is that the ACC and the Big East will have multimillion payoffs from BCS games and not even have teams in the top 20 and possibly not even Top 25.

I still feel bad for the young kicker, but TCU is better than Utah and should be in the BCS. Got to show up and execute, though
