I realize the Observer isn't exactly a pillar of sports journalism, but there are some interesting quotes from JJ inside, including how he expected 4-5 wins this season and expects a "big" step forward next year....we'll see, I guess.

Jones says we will compete for the CUSA title and a bowl game by his 3rd year? With CUSA having enough bowl alliances for any 6-6 team to qualify, he may be right on the bowl bid...but let's see how much improvement we see next year.

I hope he's right that a high scoring team is going to sell more tickets. Recruits will get more interested as our students, alumni and Dallas area sports fans get more interested.

At least there was not a mention about SMU in the Austin American Statesmen today - did one on UNT though
